I went to the tree up on that hill
Whose root are rooted deep in the ground
there's a treasure box that i found
And inside i found a bill
With the bill i bought a will
and wrote my wish for the my kids
and i sealed it with my lids
just in case someone will kill
30 years from now
my kids will open this jar
With a will titled "Our"
with a statement of my vow
I know it will not mean much
but i wrote this with care
my son ripped it with a tear
because it didn't touch him that much

1. Summarize the ballad. What impressions or feelings do you have towards it?
ReplyDeleteA guy found a box, put one of his things and planted it again. 30 years later, his kid opened it up, and ripped it apart.
I feel sorry for the guy who planted it.
2. Analyze the rhyme scheme. What is it and how does it contribute to the ballad?
abba
3. Pick three words that are a good word choice. Why?
rooted - word for trees
sealed - how the lid was secure
ripped - shows how much the kid doenst care
4. What story is the ballad telling? (What is the message of the poem?)
Something that you put hard work into can be torn apart easily with carelessness.
5. What poetic devices (figures of speech) did the poet use? Why?
irony - the main character wrote the thing with care, but his son ripped it apart right when he saw it.
Sad, but good for a ballad. I liked your rhyme scheme-well done!
ReplyDeleteRevise the last line of the second stanza, and the last two lines of the fourth stanza.
